Dan Del Rosario, Chief Executive Officer and President
Mr. Del Rosario has more than 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. He has held numerous senior management positions in operations, technology, sales and marketing with Photronics, Hoya Electronics, Dai Nippon Printing, Dupont, and MicroMask.
Mr. Del Rosario was previously the Chief Executive Officer of Photronics, Inc., the largest supplier of photomasks to the semiconductor industry and a $400 million public company that is traded on the NASDAQ. Mr. Del Rosario successfully led the company through the semiconductor downturn in 2002 and Photronics was one of the few technology companies that continued to be profitable and grow market share throughout that downturn.
Prior to assuming the CEO role, Mr. Del Rosario served as Photronics’ Sr. Vice President-Asia. In that capacity, he formulated an aggressive Asian strategy that addressed the growing importance of the Asian silicon foundries and the migration of wafer manufacturing to this strategic region. This strategy included the successful acquisition and integration of photomask companies in both Taiwan and Korea. Additionally, Mr. Del Rosario established a sales office in Tokyo to foster relationships with the major Japanese integrated design manufacturers (“IDM”s) that were planning to outsource production to the silicon foundries in Taiwan, Korea, China and the rest of Southeast Asia. Mr. Del Rosario also had the foresight to establish a trading company in China in 2000 that let to the establishment of one of the initial WOFEs (“Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise”) within China. His Asian strategy was a homerun for Photronics as Asian revenues grew from 10% of total sales in 1999 to approximately 50% of total sales in 2003. This strategy also enabled Photronics to double its revenues during this time period.
Mr. Del Rosario is well known in the semiconductor industry in the U.S., Asia and Europe. He has extensive contacts at the senior management and Board level of most of the world’s largest semiconductor companies and he also developed extensive governmental relationships in both the United States and Asia through his participation in numerous industry associations and forums.
Mr. Del Rosario has previously served on the Board of Directors of AeA (American Electronics Association), as Principal Officer of SVMG (Silicon Valley Manufacturers Group) and on the Board of Advisers of FSA (Fabless Semiconductor Association). He continues to be active in these associations. He is also active in Semi, SIA, SPIE, Caspa, Necina and other industry trade organizations.
